Types of Breast Cancer: Ductal & Lobular Breast Cancers

To have more awareness about breast cancer, it is very much important to know about its stages and its types. This will help in protecting oneself from this disease in a better way, and it will also help in avoiding the triggers that cause this disease.

Oncology is the study related to cancers and the specialist doctors who examines and treats this disease is called oncologist.

Following the stages and types of breast cancer:

Based on Spreading Nature:
Invasive Breast Cancer:
it is a type of breast cancer which spreads to the surrounding areas also. It will not be confined to site of origin but will spread to surrounding tissues as well as organs. In case of inflammatory cancer, soft tissues of the breast will be the target cells.
Non Invasive Breast Cancer:
in this type of cancer, the cancerous cells will not spread to surrounding tissues or organs. These cancerous cells will be confined to the site of origin. But if this type of breast cancer is not detected in early stages, it will spread to other surrounding areas.

Based on the Tissue Affected
Ductal Carcinoma: It is the most common types of breast cancer. More than eighty five percent of the cases are of this category only. The ducts underneath the areola of breast & nipple are the milk ducts to nipple. Ductal carcinoma is the cancer which affects the cells and tissues present in these ducts. It is a type of non invasive cancer and it can be treated by removing the cells through radiation. If it turns in to invasive type by spreading to surrounding tissues, then chemotherapy and mastectomy are to be performed.
Lobular Carcinoma: This type of breast cancer is less common when compared to ductal carcinoma. In this type, the cells producing the milk are affected. If this kind of cancer is not treated properly on time it will spread to other tissues and cells of breast, making the cancer more dreadful and incurable.

Based on the type and stage of breast cancer, the treatment will vary. One should go for the diagnosis of breast cancer, whenever she gets a doubt of it. Early detection will increase the chances of treating the cancer.
